I started with a predefined layout/design from the client and implemented it with a few improvements. This design package was purchased at a flat rate.
I used Elementor page builder, along with an event calendar plugin. I chose Astra because it is one of the fastest loading free themes and has maintained compatibility with Elementor.
This site is one of my personal projects. The concept is similar to Wattpad, and I intend to someday open it to a small community of authors and readers.
I learned a lot with this, extending the functionality of a few plugins via PHP and digging into the theming options of Elementor Pro.
I also spent a lot of time working out the challenges of a complicated responsive design that is optimized for mobile reading.
This was one of my first sites created for a business owner. Both my relative unfamiliarity with WordPress (at the time) and an unestablished design process made this difficult. I learned so much.
I’m most proud of the inventory “shop” system I set up based on WooCommerce. Rather than a regular payment gateway, the checkout process sends the cart contents and contact info to the business so they can complete the transaction by phone (per my client’s specifications).
